News 21 July 2020
The home office has become for many people a reality in this "new normal". Basically, in this abrupt digital transition, an opportunity arose to develop work (essentially services), with greater comfort and autonomy in your home and, at the same time, an advantage for the company to increase its efficiency and eventually reduce structure costs. Of course it's not for everyone, but it's going to be a new reality for many professionals.

The advantage of this model has come to be recognized and valued for its flexibility. Although it is recommended, previously, to seriously evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of following, or not, the path of telework and home office. If the advantages go beyond the disadvantages it may be an option, although it forces adaptation and change. Is your team ready for that? Are your homes or offices able to perform well? There are some answers to these questions, in a reflection format, that we try to provide in this article.

The home office doesn't just mean working from your house (there's work from home and work at home). For example, there are several professional realities in which telework takes place in traffic, in cafes, airports, car parks and even hotels. Some even choose to work in a shared office (coworking), instead of setting up their home office. One of the advantages of shared spaces is the opportunity to network, avoiding the greater isolation of the home office.

One of the main competencies and resources are self-discipline, as well as online communication tools (platforms) that help in the organization and effectiveness of the work to be developed. In addition, it is important to have a framework: space and furniture at home, a family willing to collaborate and a suitable office.

The keywords of the home office in professional life are "freedom" and "autonomy". But we remember that on the other side is attitude and self-discipline. Independence can be a way to deliver our best skills in the challenges to the projects that arise, with greater focus and less external interference, whether from traditional open space or a team. Although remember that we are social animals and we need to be together for team building.

Below are some practical tips for organizing your workspace from home:

Laptop support - support is key to ergonomics and perfect posture. And from plastic or composite solutions as well as wood, everything can make sense as long as you're contributing to the user's well-being and health and work experience

Chair - no use investing in gadgets, peripherals, state-of-the-art technologies and buying a chair that does not fit your well-being. The chair must be comfortable and functional as it is one of the greatest contributions to the level of productivity, ensuring the comfort and ergonomics necessary to keep focus and energy in harmony with work

Secretary - when choosing the secretary, who should play with the chair think about the long-term investment, your health and your quality of life. Opt, if possible in terms of budget, for wood furniture that performs well and preferably where the product life cycle and manufacture proves to be sustainable

Notepad support - can be in wood or other material. Notepad is just a generic suggestion for annotations tool. You may prefer a tablet or other tech gadget, as long as you have a way to keep daily records of tasks, backlogs and new ideas, you're on track for good performance

The home office requires even more organization and planning than the conventional office, so that all tasks are fulfilled within the required time frame. Supervision and control is less, so it will compel you to even more discipline and commitment.

Commitment, discipline, focus and consistency are a necessity and obligation in teleworking.
